First Aid/CPR/AED + Lifejacket training 3/16

Finally, our first Red Cross Adult/Child First Aid/CPR/AED certification workshop IS ON and I hope you can make it.  We have the good fortune of hosting a blended Red Cross training (half online, half in-person) delivered by the unflappable Chelsea Chytka of Benton County Sheriff’s Office together with an in-person Oregon Marine Safety Board lifejacket fitting training delivered by the wonderful Mari Ann Mackenzie of OMSB.

In the OMSB train-the-trainer hour you will learn how to properly fit a person with a lifejacket and how to teach another person proper lifejacket usage. This is a critical skill for the WaterStrong EcoSwim programs and Outreach Tents.

In the Red Cross Adult/Child Basic First Aid/CPR/AED certification training you will learn basic first aid, CPR and AED skills for adults and children, and upon completion will receive a Red Cross certificate valid for 2 years. This is a critical skill for living in community.

Here are the details:

Date:  Saturday, March 16, 2024  (note: this time overlaps with a BSI swim event at Dishman and may impact some volunteers who have already committed to the BSI event. Don’t worry, we’ll have more trainings on the calendar: 6/8 and 10/26)

Time:  11a - 5p

Place: Matt Dishman Community Center, 77 NE Knott St. Portland OR 97212

Cost: Pay what you like for WaterStrong volunteers and community partners, free for WaterStrong EcoSwim participant families

Ages:  13+

Etc: Bring snacks and comfortable clothing. The workshop is a classroom exercise, no need to bring a swimsuit.

Please confirm you can make it by sending an email to me and Chelsea (cheesel39@gmail.com) with your name, address, email and telephone number. Chelsea will follow up with details about the blended learning course (half online pre-workshop, half in-person)

We have a few more spots available!

With great enthusiasm for this skills building opportunity for us all,

Dena
