EcoSwim with Bienestar at FGAC

The EcoSwim Clinic, organized by WaterStrong Initiative in collaboration with Bienestar, at Forest Grove Community Center, was a successful event aimed at promoting water safety, environmental awareness, and community engagement. The event was the largest parent-child clinic yet, with 23 WaterStrong volunteers, 33 Bienestar children, and 17 Bienestar parents participating in the EcoSwim Clinic!

Participants learned essential swimming and water safety skills, including floating, treading water, and basic strokes, under the guidance of certified instructors. Despite taking place indoors, the clinic emphasized the importance of water conservation and environmental stewardship, educating attendees about ways to protect and preserve aquatic ecosystems.

The clinic fostered a sense of community as individuals from diverse backgrounds came together to learn and participate in water-related activities safely. Certified instructors provided personalized guidance and support to participants, ensuring that everyone felt comfortable and empowered in the water.

During the environmental-focused portions of the clinic, attendees learned about water pollution, plastic waste, and the importance of sustainable practices, inspiring attendees to become advocates for environmental conservation.

The collaboration between WaterStrong Initiative and Bienestar exemplified the power of partnership in achieving common goals, leveraging resources and expertise to benefit the community. Building on the success of the EcoSwim Clinic, WaterStrong Initiative and Bienestar plan to organize future events and initiatives focused on promoting water safety, environmental education, and community empowerment. This includes expanding access to swimming lessons, conducting beach cleanups, and advocating for policies that protect water resources.
