Big news WaterStrong friends!
WaterStrong has been invited to join Why Racing as its nonprofit beneficiary for the Hagg Lake Triathlon. This is a really big deal. Hagg Lake is a beloved gathering place for so many of the families we serve in Forest Grove and Hillsboro, and, when I was racing, the Hagg Lake Tri was without comparison my favorite race (and first podium medal!). Just as important, Hagg Lake carries a heavy burden of community trauma when year after year we lose someone in its waters, reminding us all that water safety is fundamental, and by caring for the water, the water also cares for us.
As the nonprofit beneficiary for the Hagg Lake Triathlon, WaterStrong will be featured on the race website, linked on the race registration page to receive donations, and welcomed on-site with an outreach tent. Please join me. Volunteers will help set up and take down the course, monitor the course, assist athletes and race officials, and host the WaterStrong outreach tent. You'll receive free parking passes and overnight camping at Bobcat Cove, a WaterStrong t-shirt and swim cap, a live concert Saturday night, and a free race bib (for up to 10 competitors).
We’re asked to bring 40 volunteers to make a full showing, but for this first year, let’s do whatever we can.
Please ping me if you can volunteer Saturday, July 12th from 7a-1p and/or Sunday, July 13th from 7a-1p
PS. WaterStrong will be back at Hagg Lake August 19 & 20 for EcoSwim summer camp with Bienestar!
